Bishop Peter and Jane ride for Somerset Churches Trust

The Bishop of Bath and Wells Peter Hancock and his wife Jane joined a group of cyclists and walkers to visit all of the churches in Wells and surrounding villages to raise money for Ride + Stride. All of the money raised will be used to repair churches and chapels in Somerset or to help them provide facilities to improve community use.

SCT visit to churches in Bristol

The Somerset Churches Trust runs regular tours of churches – often with a theme. In July Rob Harding organised a trip to three Bristol churches, which date back to Norman times, including the magnificent St Mary, Redcliffe. The picture shows Cecile Gillard the head warden of St Mary Redcliffe pointing out the medieval stained glass.

The Playfair Prize

Arrangements are steaming ahead for the award of the Trust’s exciting £5,000 Playfair Prize in the autumn. Wells Town Hall is booked for a gala prize-giving on Friday, 30th October and tickets will shortly be available (see Programme of Events). The closing date for entries was 30 June 2015.
